What does it mean?

Every computer that connects to the Internet has a 'special address' known as the Internet Protocol Address, or in short an IP address. This address uniquely identifies every computer in the cyberworld. As more computers become connected to the Internet, it is now very rare that each computer will be assigned a permanent IP Address everytime it goes online.

Internet Service Providers or ISPs began to introduce proxy servers into the market. These servers also serve as caching servers and can prefetch certain web contents or cache every contents requested by its clients. When another client requested for similar contents, it will be served directly from the cache, which saves up loads of bandwidth and speeds up loading.

Proxy server IP address?

When the system detects that you are behind a proxy server, it will display its IP address together with its hostname. This is very common if you are surfing the Internet from corporate network or from some Internet cafes. You can use this IP address to identity your computer if there is no client IP address reported by the proxy.

Client IP address?

When the system detects that you are behind a proxy server, it will attempt to query the proxy for your 'client IP address'. This address can be used to uniquely identify your computer on the Internet. For example, you can use this IP address if you want to connect to TCP/IP network games or when you want to host a game and you want your friends to connect to you.
